Artist Statement
My belief is that a work of art is a complex vibratory system. Quite often what emerges is a mystery in and of itself and is uniquely experienced by both the artist and the viewer. The natural world, along with symbolism and myths, continue to be sources of inspiration for me. Although oil has been my favorite medium, I have found that mixed media – along with digital collages – allow me to create a visual narrative. Much of my work develops in my inner world. My intention is to encourage the viewer to pause, be present in the moment, and open to whatever self-observations may occur.
Artist Bio
As North Carolina native, I spent most of my adult professional years as an interior designer, a creative field which allowed me to gain experience rendering perspectives and putting together color boards for presentations. After taking classes with local artists and receiving their encouragement, I began to exhibit in local shows in 2008, and then in national juried shows. In 2017, I joined Artwork Gallery. My exhibitions at Artworks include Path of the Lotus Pond (2018); Under the Influence of Jung (2019); Between Two Mysteries (2021); and Into the Horizons (2022).
