Artist Statement
I like color, pattern, and nature. That is what you find in my art. I celebrate that which gives meaning, sustenance, and nurture to the human spirit. I do it with bold color and a love of detail and pattern. My work is almost exclusively watercolor: my path as an artist has centered on this medium primarily because of its challenge, its portability, and its ease of set-up and clean-up. When I paint, I seek to make an emotional connection with my subject and to know something about the subject emotionally by the time I am finished with the painting. Looking closely at the subject almost always rewards one with a greater sense of who and what that subject is. I paint both representational images as well as abstract images: each painting strives to capture an emotional aspect of the subject depicted.
