"A Sense of Time" – Nanu laRosse and Kimberly Varnadoe

August 7-September 8, 2007
Opening Reception: Sunday, August 26, 2-4 pm
Closing Reception (Gallery Hop): Friday, September 7, 2007, 7-10 pm

Artworks Gallery is presenting "A Sense of Time", a two-person exhibit with Nanu laRosee, paintings, and Kimberly Varnadoe, photo-based mixed media works from August 7 - September 8.

The "closing" reception will coincide with the Gallery Hop Friday, September 7, from 7-10 pm.

Nanu LaRosee is showing still life oil paintings. She has discovered for herself that long, deep, observation and meditation on a still life set-up gives accuracy, uncovered beauty, and even mystery, to a painting.

Ms. LaRosee received the Arts Council of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Emerging Artist Grant in 1991. She received her Masters in Library Science from Appalachian State University, and her Bachelor in Fine Arts in painting from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. Her High School diploma is from the North Carolina School of the Arts – five years violin major, one year visual arts.

Kimberly Varnadoe's work is mostly photo-based mixed media images. The works include nostalgic images of abandoned buildings and places representing passage through time.

Ms. Varnadoe, Associate Professor of Art at Salem College, is an active printmaker/photographer who exhibits her work frequently in North Carolina and throughout the Southeast. She specializes in innovative studio techniques which often combine photography, printmaking and book arts. She received her M.F.A with a concentration in Printmaking from The University of Memphis in 1991 and her BFA from The University of South Alabama in 1983.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
